March 25 .... Happy birthday to Globe, born 1977.

Biblio? Our Website does not have a bibliographic database. Why not?

We cannot see the point in loading yet another bibliographic reference of our own when so many local and international sources are available.

For biblio material, we will not re-invent the wheel and put our database on the "Net". There is no need as we can service most periodicals from any source. If the title you require is not on our database we will research it and issue a proforma invoice or, if preferred, a quote.

Just request a subscription to any title and assume we have knowledge of it. If you wish send us by fax a copy of the "title" page with full information and /or the publisher's "blurb" if the title required is newly published.

Windows version of   Globe-Pass  is available without charge to all our qualified clients.

The acclaimed easy to use serials control software package with Electronic Data Interface to Globe has the advantage of maintaining data electronically, and claiming automatically. If you would like to receive the software free please contact our office.

Conferences - to attend or not?

We conducted an in-depth survey during the last four conferences where we were major sponsors. The results were circulated to our clients. Feedback will determine whether we attend ALL future library conferences or we abide by our decision to be selective.

Regular feature to exchange knowledge contributions by clients in Library Talk.

Historical Conferences

  • Information Online & On Disc 99 Conference.

Although we were satisfied with the number of enquirers we received, we felt that the Conference was disappointing from an attendees point of view. Of the 1255 total registrations 620 were ALIA members. About 79% [967] of all visitors viewed the trade exhibits. Unfortunately of the 967 were are unable to ascertain whether people registered more than once per day. Therefore in effect it is possible that the "real" number of visitors to the trade exhibition is substantially less than registered.

We have no doubts at all that the registration for both professional and non professional is on the way down at conferences.

  • Specials Conference, 1997 Western Australia.

Another successful conference for us. Only 600 odd attendees but the response to our services and software was pleasing to say the least. Clearly we are doing the right thing at very competitive rates. The demand for software [Globe-Pass] integrated with a service provider has greatly increased. Library budgets and personnel are being reduced and Globe-Pass is seen as a way to minimize clerical maintenance and reduce the alternate cost by allowing key people to concentrate on other functions. Another pleasing factor was the growth achieved by the OPAL group which we are associated with and sponsor. This special interest group has grown from a membership list of six to well over 200 in some 18 months. At the conference OPAL celebrated its 2nd birthday with about 100 people in attendance [members and members to be]. Surprisingly this number represented 1/6 of the total attendees to the Conference. Is this the sign of things to come?

  • Information Online & On Disc 97 Conference.

What a success for us...approximately 600 serious enquirers, not bad when the conference had some 1100 delegates attending. We were reminded of our edge over our competition because of our personal efficient service and Globe-Pass, the integrated serials control software. This acclaimed software is a substantial cost saver for the library and allows Librarians more time to carry out professional duties by minimizing clerical functions.

  • Alia Conference, October 1996.

From our point of view, this was a very successful conference. Again we have been reminded that the demand for an efficient service provider to libraries for serials from world wide sources is great. Generally we feel that we have an advantage over our competitors .... we continue to provide an efficient "boutique" style (personalised) service at a very competitive fee eventhough our size of operation could easily be depersonalised.

Furthermore, no competitor provides an integrated serials control package such as Globe-Pass. Not only does the concept not exist but to offer the DOS version of such powerful software to all clients at no cost is unheard of? Well not to us. We are a family company with a genuine interest in being of service to our clients. Being eager to please does make a difference. We will always have an efficient personalised service.
